PlayStation officially confirmed their next-gen virtual reality headset that will be named PlayStation VR2. Alongside the headset is the new PlayStation VR2 Sense controller, which looks like it might have been influenced by the Oculus Touch. While there is no set launch date or estimate, excitement for the new virtual reality set is high. In addition to the VR set, the tech giant also announced a VR spin-off for the PlayStation exclusive Horizon Call of the Mountain series in the works by Guerrilla Games and Firesprite Studios, recently acquired by Sony.
What Upgrades can We Expect with PlayStation VR2?
Sony has made major upgrades from their previous virtual reality system to improve the lifelike feeling. The company has ditched the need for the PS Camera and has upgraded the headset to utilize headset-based controller tracking. Gamers can expect to play the new Horizon Call of the Mountain game and others with OLED display at a 2000 x 2040 resolution per eye. The new headset also features Sony’s 3D audio technology.
The new VR2 headset and Sense controller will allow gamers to experience “new sensory features” to immerse players into a lifelike feeling of playing virtual reality games, Sony stated.
